TRANSATLANTIC TRANSMISSION

It kind of started with this man, Guglielmo Marconi, who following a successful transatlantic transmission of 3 short signals (the letter S in Morse code) paved the way for public broadcasts that started from Essex in the UK. Indeed the Marconi company was based in Chelmsford, Essex for over 100 years. The first regular public broadcast was from station 2LO (later to become the British Broadcasting Company) from Writtle, also in Essex.

114 years after the letter S crossed the Atlantic from England to Newfoundland (later to become part of Canada) Peter and Joe have successfully achieved a joint 2-way live broadcast in real time, without a long lag, without editing. Peter is in Quebec, Canada and Joe is where it all began - Essex, England.

Hear them live most Mondays at 4pm in Quebec, that's 9pm in Essex.
