PETER MARTIN'S HEALTH REVOLUTION
As requested by hundreds of stunned admirers, here is a run-down of what he did...

January 2007: Very over weight, breathlessness, scabby feet, painful knees and ankles, bloated legs, etc.

February 6, 2007:
1) Visit to general practitioner. - Result: very high blood pressure.
2) Full blood test. - Result: everything at danger levels.
3) Gave up fat, sugar, salt, flour and alcohol that very day.
Didn't wait, saying "it's a shame to throw that away"
- better to throw away the above items than throw away a life!

February 10:
4) Went on the "kick-start" fat-burning soup recipe. - Result: Lost 8 kilos (nearly 18 lbs) in 7 days!!
This is a recipe from Quebec and is very well-known in France. If you don't cheat, it is guaranteed to work.
We've found a similar recipe to the one Peter used, in English: Fat-burning soup recipe

It is imperative to follow the recipe to the letter and not to exceed the 7 days.
(Note: Canned tomatoes will give more flavour and less calories)

February 17:
5) Went back to eating normally but really sensibly:
no fat (no fried food), no potatoes (just a little pasta and brown rice), no salt,
very little dairy produce - cow's milk replaced with vegetable "milk" (soy, oat or rice),
no white bread and only a little wholemeal,
no sauces, no added sugar, and no liquor.

Big breakfast (very important) with red fruits, berries etc. and cereal that has the least sugar.
(Note: Ordinary corn flakes contain half the salt and sugar of "Special K" and cost far less!)

1 small glass of red wine with the other two meals
At least 5 different vegetables per day
At least 5 different fruits per day
Red meat only 1 midday meal per week
Replaced beef with horse (8 times less fat)
Other midday meals: White meats, white fish and seafood

Evening meals: Soup without potato, maybe with a whole-rice biscuit.

Results:

In 10 months, Peter's weight went from 125 kilos to 81 kilos - that's a 44 kilo loss (97 lbs / almost 7 stone).
His waist size went from 42 inches to 31 inches and his chest size from 47 inches to 41 inches.
He tightened his watch strap by 5 holes and had 7mm removed from his wedding ring.

No medication was used - only eating LOTS of good food.

The "5 to 10 a day" fruit and vegetables rule is important.
Peter made it "12 to 15 a day".

Buy all the vegetables you can find except potatoes and peas.
If you tire of boiled veg, stir fry with a little nut oil (Omegas 3, 6 and 9).

Buy all the fruits you can find.
Go steady on apples that have a poor vitamin/calorie ratio.
Don't eat too many bananas, replace their potassium by a square of chocolate.
Make sure it is chocolate and not like "Galaxy" which is chocolate-flavoured fat and sugar.
90% chocolate contains 4 times less sugar than 70%.

It is IMPORTANT to visit the doctor very regularly and to have several blood tests, 2-3 months into the dieting.
Get the minerals levels checked (magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, etc.).

Some exercise is good but there's no need to go "over the top" - a daily 20-minute walk is fine.
The essential thing is to burn more calories than you consume
but that does not mean eating a lot then doing lots of hard sport.
That's a bit like pushing hard on the accelerator and the brake at the same time
- the motor will explode (in this case - the heart!)

A lot of motivation is required at the start - but just read up on heart attack, diabetes, stomach problems
or kidney and liver failure and it becomes really easy (unless one is contemplating suicide).

Once started (after the 7-day soup diet) is it auto-motivating - the sensation of well-being is overwhelming.
One also has the wonderful feeling of self-satisfaction and pride.
After a month, a meal at the neighbours' house will taste horribly of salt and the mere sight of those
little bright orange things that plop out of industrial installations will make you feel ill.
